Convoco offers platforms for leaders of the economy, politics, law, science, culture and media that enable a free and interdisciplinary exchange of ideas regarding questions of social relevance and inspire a debate.

About Convoco

The purpose of bringing together theory and practice in discussions, lectures and forums is to sensitise the public to current issues, to foster a culture of public debate, and to bring about social change through the initiatives of individuals - collaborare - exchange - change!

Convoco is a charitable foundation founded by Dr. Corinne Michaela Flick.

Foundation

As a charitable foundation, Convoco assumes responsibility by pointing out social changes and disturbances. Its aim is to strengthen, obtain and create social values through lectures and debates.

The Convoco Council provides advice with regards to contents of the charitable foundation.

Convoco’s management and administration lies with Dr. Corinne Michaela Flick.

Michaela Flick

Dr. Corinne Michaela Flick

Dr. Corinne Michaela Flick studied both law and literature, taking American studies as her subsidiary. She gained her Dr. Phil. in 1989. She has worked as in-house lawyer for Bertelsmann Buch AG and Amazon.com. In 1998 she became General Partner in Vivil GmbH und Co. KG, Offenburg. She is Founder and Chair of the Convoco Foundation. Dr. Flick is Co-Founder of the Friends of the Bavarian State Library, Munich, a member of the Executive Committee of the International Council of the Tate Gallery, London, and was Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Aspen Institute Germany from 2012 to 2016.

Council

Leading personalities from economy and law form the Convoco Council. They support Convoco with its mission by providing advice on content and structure of Convoco.

Prof. Dr. h.c. Roland Berger

Roland Berger is founder and since 2010 Honorary Chairman of Roland Berger GmbH in Munich. With 50 offices in 36 countries and 2400 employees, the company is among the top 5 of global strategy consultancies for leading international manufacturing and services companies as well as public institutions. Roland Berger is a member of several supervisory and advisory boards in national and international companies, foundations and organizations. He has been member of numerous expert commissions for the European Commission as well as national- and state-level governments. Roland Berger is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Roland Berger Foundation that he founded. The Roland Berger Foundation is dedicated to global human rights and human dignity as well as to enhance equality of opportunity. It supports gifted, motivated children from socially disadvantaged families on their way to a university education. Since 2015 it supports unaccompanied young refugees in Germany.

Dr. Arend Oetker

Dr. Arend Oetker was born in 1939. After studying Business Administration and Political Sciences at the Universities of Hamburg, Berlin and Cologne from 1962 to 1966 and Marketing at Harvard Business School in 1966, he earned his doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Cologne in 1967.

He is Managing Director of Dr. Arend Oetker Holding GmbH & Co. KG, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of COGNOS AG (education) as well as Supervisory Board member of Leipziger Messe. Furthermore he is Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors of the nutrition company HERO AG in Switzerland (e.g. jams, baby and toddler food) and KWS Saat SE (plant breeding). Besides his entrepreneurial activities, Arend Oetker is engaged in various voluntary activities: He is Chairman of the German Council for Foreign Relations e.V. (DGAP), Member of the Presidential Board of the Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA), and Honorary Member of the Presidential Board of the Federation of German Industries e.V. (BDI).

As a connoisseur and enthusiast of music and contemporary art, Arend Oetker is involved in the council of Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft im BDI e.V. (Association of Arts and Culture of the German Economy at the Federation of German Industries). He supported the restructuring of St.-Petri-Kirche in Lübeck and was a co-founder of the Gallery of Contemporary Art in Leipzig. Furthermore he is active in the board of trustees of Stiftung Bach Archiv Leipzig and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Berliner Philharmoniker In 2007 he was rewarded with the Grand Cross for Distinguished Service of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Christian Hövelhaus

Christian Hövelhaus, born in Essen in 1962, received his Master’s Degree in business administration at the universities of Münster, St.Gallen and finally Cologne. His professional career started at E.ON, he then worked in consulting and in the RWE Group in leading positions, finally as member of the RWE executive board in Warsaw, Poland from 2001 until 2006. Back in Germany he joined the board of natGAS AG in Potsdam until 2014, responsible for energy sales and services in Europe. Since 2014 Christian has developed his companies mainly in IT and energy business - especially as Founder and CEO of ESFORIN SE in Essen.  During his career, Christian has lived and worked abroad in the United States, Paris and Warsaw for more than 10 years and attended Executive Programs at IMD and INSEAD. Intercultural competencies, interdisciplinary thinking and thinking out of the box are crucial for him besides traveling, diving, playing golf, and contemporary art.

Johannes Freiherr von Salmuth

An economics graduate (Diplom-Volkswirt, University of Bonn), Johannes Freiherr von Salmuth was born on February 23, 1966 in Heidelberg, Germany, a descendant of the firm founder Friedrich Röchling. He was elected to Röchling’s regulatory bodies in 2000, assuming deputy chairmanship of these in 2004. In the summer of 2008 he took over the role of Chairman of the Shareholder Board, and since the beginning of 2011 he has also been Chairman of the Advisory Board at Röchling SE & Co. KG in Mannheim, Germany. In 2002, after positions at auditing companies and as a management consultant, Freiherr von Salmuth became Executive Director of Aluminium-Werke Wutöschingen AG & Co.KG, an aluminum-processing company in South Baden, Germany. In 2009, he became a member of the Governance Commission for Family-owned Companies, in 2011 a board member and in 2013 Vice President of DIE FAMILIEN- UNTERNEHMER e. V. Since 2011, he has also been a member of the Executive Committee of the WHU Foundation of the Otto Beisheim School of Management in Koblenz, Germany.
